Ensuring Medicine Quality and Building Trust in Healthcare

How do we know the medicine we’re buying is genuine? It’s a question we rarely ask, yet it’s one of the most important questions in healthcare.

Every medicine reaches a patient only after a long journey through manufacturing, quality testing, regulatory approval, storage, and distribution. Behind every strip of tablets is a system designed to ensure quality, safety, and trust.

But maintaining that trust requires continuous monitoring.

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) regularly conducts quality surveillance across the country. According to its May 2026 report: 159 medicine batches were identified as Not of Standard Quality (NSQ). 1 batch was identified as spurious during routine surveillance.

These findings apply to specific batches, not to all medicines in the market. In fact, the vast majority of medicines continue to meet the required quality standards.

For me, this isn’t about creating fear. It’s about creating awareness.

As distributors, manufacturers, pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and patients, we all share one responsibility: building confidence in the medicines people rely on every day.

Greater transparency through: • Quality surveillance Batch traceability Recall awareness Responsible distribution

It helps strengthen trust across the entire healthcare ecosystem.

At Care Agastya Distributors, we believe that quality is more than a standard. It’s a responsibility.

Right Medicine. Right Quality. That’s Our Promise.

I’d love to hear your perspective. What more can the pharmaceutical industry do to improve transparency and strengthen public confidence in medicine quality?
